Sonoma Section 4

Most of this portion of the coastal trail is confined to the Highway 1 shoulder, with private property, the Richardson Ranch, east and west of the roadway. You can take a break at the Richardson family-run general store at Stewarts Point, much as travelers have since the 1860?s, when Stewarts Point was a doghole lumber port and the store was new. This long bout of highway walking ends at Horseshoe Cove and the northerly boundary of Salt Point State Park. Now, finally on public property, the CCT hiker will experience what Sonoma County really has to offer. [Jon Breyfogle]
