Humboldt Section 47

Crossing Cooskie Creek may require wading, although there are usually logs for those with good balance. Hiking here is along the sandy beach going southeasterly, with some rocky, difficult sections that slow progress. Massive landslides on the steep slopes and contorted rock strata attest to the dynamism and geologic forces at work here. Within the first mile, there is a spot that could be a problem at high tide. At about two miles is Randall Creek, with campsites just upstream, and a connecting inland trail. Southbound, the trail is along the bench above the beach. Cross two small flats, then come to Spanish Flat, covered with knee-high grass and wildflowers in the spring. Spanish Creek is a wide gravelly streambed with driftwood shelters on the beach; there are campsites up near the trees.
