San Francisco County

The Coastal Trail in San Francisco connects some of the greatest tourist attractions and most scenic natural and man-made landscapes on the planet. Hikers will enjoy the 10.5 miles of the CCT and, along with the casual tourist, can visit ?destination? attractions near the Trail. The Golden Gate Bridge (the CCT passes over it), Fort Point (a Civil War fort), the Presidio (founded by the Spanish in 1776), The Palace of the Legion of Honor (huge, diverse art collection) and the Sutro Gardens can be enjoyed as one walks from San Francisco Bay in the north, south to the historic Cliff House. Beyond this point, there's more to visit at Ocean Beach, Golden Gate Park, and Fort Funston. [Richard Nichols]
